Affect Analysis of “Die Bombe”
During her internship at ONB Labs, Lisa Gollner performed a sentiment analysis of the satirical historical newspaper “Die Bombe” (the bomb). See below for a visualization of her results detailing relative frequencies of key words connected to certain emotions in the text. See Lisa’s article (in German) published as part of the Austrian National Library’s Research Blog series (Forschungsblog) for an introduction to sentiment and affect analysis as well as an overview of the project. The corresponding GitLab repository contains the code and documentation produced during the project.
Lisa Gollner, BA is a student of the Master’s program in Digital Humanities at the University of Graz and has completed a two-month internship at the Research and Data Services Department of the Austrian National Library.
